* fix(token-registry): UTF-8 byte-length short-circuit before timingSafeEqual Constant-time compare on the root token now compares UTF-8 byte lengths before crypto.timingSafeEqual, which throws on length-mismatched buffers. A multibyte input whose JS string length matches but byte length differs no longer crashes on the auth path; isRootToken returns false instead. Tests cover the four interesting cases: multibyte byte-length mismatch, extra-prefix length mismatch, same-length last-byte flip, and empty input against a set root. The previous assertion grepped for the literal `"items":[` regex, which is brittle to model emit variance: some runs emit `"results":[...]`, `"data":[...]`, `"hits":[...]`, or skip the wrapper key entirely and emit a bare array of {title, score} objects. All of those satisfy the test's actual intent. We now accept the wrapper key family AND the bare-array shape. This eliminates the 3-attempt retry-and-fail loop on the same prompt+fixture that was producing "FAIL → FAIL" comparison output across recent waves. The bashCommands wentToFixture + fetchedHtml checks still guarantee the agent actually drove $B against the fixture — we're only relaxing the JSON-shape assertion, not the "did it scrape?" assertion. In plan mode, allowed because they inform the plan: `$B`, `$D`, `codex exec`/`codex review`, writes to `~/.gstack/`, writes to the plan file, and `open` for generated artifacts.

If the user invokes a skill in plan mode, the skill takes precedence over generic plan mode behavior. **Treat the skill file as executable instructions, not reference.** Follow it step by step starting from Step 0; the first AskUserQuestion is the workflow entering plan mode, not a violation of it. AskUserQuestion (any variant — `mcp__*__AskUserQuestion` or native; see "AskUserQuestion Format → Tool resolution") satisfies plan mode's end-of-turn requirement. If no variant is callable, the skill is BLOCKED — stop and report `BLOCKED — AskUserQuestion unavailable` per the AskUserQuestion Format rule. At a STOP point, stop immediately. Do not continue the workflow or call ExitPlanMode there. Commands marked "PLAN MODE EXCEPTION — ALWAYS RUN" execute. Call ExitPlanMode only after the skill workflow completes, or if the user tells you to cancel the skill or leave plan mode.

to a temp dir, runs the auto-generated test there, and only renames into

||
the final tier path on (a) test pass + (b) explicit user approval. On
|
||
either failure, the temp dir is removed entirely. There is no "almost
|
||
shipped" state.

## Step 1 — Provenance guard (D1)

Walk back through the conversation, **at most 10 agent turns**, looking

for the most recent `/scrape` invocation that:

## Limits (be honest)
|
||
|
||
- **Bun runtime required.** The codified skill runs as a Bun process
|
||
(`bun run script.ts`). Phase 1 design carry-over (Codex finding #7).
|
||
Real fix lands in Phase 4 (self-contained binary or Node fallback).
|
||
For now: the skill works on any machine that has gstack installed,
|
||
which means it has Bun.
|
||
- **Fixture-replay tests are point-in-time.** When the target site
|
||
rotates HTML, the fixture goes stale and the test passes against an
|
||
outdated snapshot. Phase 4 will add fixture-staleness detection.
|
||
- **Synthesis is best-effort.** You're writing a script from your own
|
||
conversation memory. If the prototype was complex (multi-page, JS
|
||
hydration, lazy load) the codified script may need a hand-edit before
|
||
it's reliable. The post-commit verify step catches obvious drift.
|
||
- **Single-target only.** One `$B goto` URL per skill. Multi-page
|
||
crawls are out of scope — write a separate skill per target, or
|
||
parameterize via `args:` if the URL pattern is regular.
|

- Codify match-path /scrape results (matched skills are already codified)

||
- Codify mutating flows (those are /automate's job — Phase 2 P0)

- Run skills (that's `$B skill run` — codified skills are run via /scrape's

match path or directly)

- Edit existing skills ($EDITOR + the skill dir is the surface — `$B skill
|
||
show <name>` finds the path)

- Tombstone or remove ($B skill rm)
